Unchon-ni is a 8 1/2 x 11, 359 page semi-autobiographical book revolving around a seventeen year olds US Army tour of duty in South Korea during a timespan of 1962 thru 1963.
"I wanted to be the man my father thought I could become. Events and incidents facilitated my growth beyond my wildest dreams. By just being in that environment, there were some things I learned by accident. Unlike in High School, I was paying attention. That's why the memories are etched in my mind. If I close my eyes and lean my head back in a chair, I can still see the streets of Unchon-ni and smell that pungent odor that permeated the air in the village. It's as if I am standing there today.

Excerpt from Unchon-ni
The farmland and rice fields were like taking a step back in time. No tractors or other automated farming equipment here. At least there were none that I saw. It was little skinny men and women meticulously working the fields.
We would pass a lot of young women on the road. They always seemed to be in groups of three or four. They all smiled and waved. More than a few would yell out greetings. “Hey GI.” “Hey GI, you come back see me…We have short time.” Others would say things like… “Oh come on GI. You no hurry back to base. I number 1.” “Aw...GI you wrong… you much too hurry…no time to stop and talk.” “I see you next time.”
